Cochrane is a town in Alberta located 18 km west of Calgary along Highway 1A between Calgary and the Rocky Mountains beyond. The population of Cochrane in 2015 was over 23,000 people, the second largest town in Alberta.

Cochrane was established in 1881 as the Cochrane Ranche, after Matthew Henry Cochrane, a local rancher. It became a village in 1903 and incorporated as a town in 1971.

The town of Cochrane has a distinctly Country atmosphere, many people find its cozy small town feel with close proximity to Calgary in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains the perfect place to call home.
