Downtown East Village is an inner city community, the community in which Calgary was founded in in 1875. From 1875 – 1913 the community was the hub of activity of Calgary, present day finds the community going through transition with a mix use of business properties and multifamily residential towers under development leading ultimately to the revitalization of the community.
The boundaries of Downtown are the Bow River to the north, 3 Street to the west, the CPR rail tracks to the south and the Elbow River to the east.
