McKenzie Lake is located in the southeast quadrant of Calgary along the banks of the Bow River. The area was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1970 and development of the community began in 1982. The area is named after J. McKenzie, one of the area’s first settlers.
Boundaries of the community are 130 Avenue to the north, Deerfoot Trail to the east, Stoney Trail to the south and the Bow River to the west.
